He is a fellow of six bodies, including the American College of Surgeons, the Indian Association of Cardiovascular-Thoracic Surgeons and the Indian College of Cardiology.
The President of India conferred the Padma Shri on him in 2013. His earlier honours include the National Citizens Award in 1992 and the National Excellence Award in 1996, and later the Delhi Medical Association Centenary Award in 2014 and an excellence award from MAMC, where he trained, in 2015.
