Dr. Vikas Tandon — Director of Spine Services in Delhi NCR

Dr. Vikas Tandon is Director of Spine Services at the Indian Spinal Injuries Centre in Delhi NCR, with more than 22 years of experience. His profile records orthopedics together with spine surgery.

His list is one of the longest in the specialty. The decompression work covers discectomy, microdisectomy, laminectomy and disc herniation surgery, with degenerative spinal stenosis and spondylolisthesis among the conditions treated. The reconstructive work covers spinal fusion surgery and spinal deformity correction across the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine. He also operates on spinal tumours and spinal trauma and treats spinal cord injury.

He holds MBBS, a DNB in orthopaedics, an FNB in spine surgery and MNAMS as a Member of the National Academy of Medical Sciences, so his specialist qualification was taken through the national board route at both diploma and fellowship level.

His record outside the operating theatre is teaching and society office. He is Chief of Spine Services at the Indian Spinal Injuries Centre, President of the Delhi Spine Society and a past Secretary of the same body, and he has served as chairperson and faculty for AO Spine Asia Pacific. He has presented papers nationally and internationally and been faculty at many national and international conferences, and his paper on tuberculosis of the spine won the Best Paper Award at ISSICON-2007.
