Dr. Gururaj Mallikarjun — Associate Director of Spine Services & Senior Consultant-Cum-Chief of Unit-VI in Delhi NCR

Dr. Gururaj Mallikarjun is Associate Director of Spine Services and Senior Consultant-Cum-Chief of Unit-VI at the Indian Spinal Injuries Centre in Delhi NCR, with more than 28 years of experience across spine surgery and orthopedics.

His list is the full column. He performs cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine surgery, spinal fusion surgery and spinal deformity correction, discectomy and spinal stenosis surgery, and vertebroplasty and kyphoplasty. He also operates on spinal tumours and spinal trauma.

He read MBBS at the Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences in Hubli in 1998 and took his MS in orthopedics at St. Johns Medical College in Bangalore in 2007. His Fellowship of National Board in spine surgery was taken at the Indian Spinal Injuries Centre, the hospital he now helps lead. Four further fellowships were taken abroad: minimally invasive spine surgery in Munich, spinal deformity at Hong Kong University, spinal deformity at Washington University, and cervical spine surgery and deformity at Hokaido University in Sapporo. He also holds a certificate course in pain and palliative care from the Indian Palliative Care Association, which sits alongside the surgical training rather than replacing it.

The Association of Spine Surgeons of India named him Investigator of the Year in 2013, and he held the Dartmouth Hitchcock Travelling Fellowship at Dartmouth Medical University in New Hampshire. He has been awarded and honoured by the Bangladesh Spine Society and the Bangladesh Orthopaedic Association, and his name appears in Marquis World's 'Who's Who' and in World's Intellectuals of the Year for 2013.
