Dr. S.K.S. Marya — Group Chairman & Chief Surgeon for Orthopaedics in Delhi NCR

Dr. S.K.S. Marya is Group Chairman and Chief Surgeon for Orthopaedics, Joints and Robotic Surgery at Max Super Speciality Hospital, Saket, in the Delhi NCR, with more than 45 years of experience.

His list is built around joint replacement and its failures. He performs total knee and total hip replacement, revision knee and hip replacement, robotic knee replacement and shoulder replacement, and treats failed joint replacement as a category in its own right. Alongside that he performs arthroscopic knee and shoulder surgery, ACL reconstruction, ligament repair and fracture fixation.

His qualifications were taken over three decades. He read MBBS at Rohtak in 1981, took his MS in orthopaedics at PGI Chandigarh in 1984 and the DNB through the National Board in 1985, then the MCh in orthopaedics at the University of Liverpool in 1991. He was elected FRCS in England in 2012 and received a DSc honoris causa from Amity University in Noida in 2019.

His recognition spans state, professional and academic bodies. He received the Bharat Jyoti Award in 2003, the DMA Distinguish Services Award on Doctors Day in 2005, the Best Publication Award of the Delhi Orthopaedic Association in 2008, an Award of Merit from the Government of Punjab in 2010, the Haryana Vigyan Ratna Award in 2012 and the B.N. Sinha Meritorious Award of the Indian Orthopaedic Association in 2018. The Bombay Orthopaedic Society gave his book Surface Replacement of Hip its book award for 2007 to 2008.
