Dr. V. Dayasagar Rao — Consultant in Hyderabad

Dr. V. Dayasagar Rao is a Consultant cardiologist at KIMS Hospitals, Secunderabad, Hyderabad. His record shows more than 61 years in practice, the longest career on the platform in this specialty.

His list is nonetheless a modern one. Alongside coronary angiography, coronary angioplasty and stenting, diagnostic cardiac catheterization, echocardiography and pacemaker implantation, it includes TAVI or TAVR and the MitraClip procedure. Medically he manages coronary artery disease, valvular and rheumatic heart disease, cardiomyopathy, atrial fibrillation and heart failure.

His qualifications were taken over eleven years and on two continents. He read MBBS at Osmania Medical College in Hyderabad in 1964, was elected FRCP of the Royal College of Edinburgh in 1969 and FRCP of the Royal College of Canada in 1971, and took his DM in cardiology at CMC, Vellore, in 1975.

His posts are recorded with their spans. He was at Christian Medical College from 1971 to 1978, at Osmania Medical College in Hyderabad from 1978 to 1983, and at Durgabai Deshmukh Hospital in Hyderabad from 1983 to 2008, before his present post at the Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences.

Two further commitments have run alongside the clinical work since 1994: he has been a recognised teacher for DNB cardiology under the National Board, and an active participant in clinical trials, both for more than three decades.
