Dr. Shaik Riyaz — Consultant Hepatologist & Liver Transplant Physician in Hyderabad

Dr. Shaik Riyaz is a Consultant Hepatologist and Liver Transplant Physician at KIMS Hospitals, Secunderabad, in Hyderabad, with more than 12 years of experience in gastroenterology and hepatobiliary medicine.

His list divides between the liver and the bile duct. He manages chronic liver disease, liver cirrhosis, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and autoimmune liver diseases, performs ERCP and treats bile duct stones and biliary strictures, and also manages inflammatory bowel disease, severe functional GI disorders and severe gastroesophageal reflux disease.

His training is recent and moves across three states. He read MBBS at Andhra Medical College in Visakhapatnam between 2011 and 2017, took his MD in internal medicine at Kasturba Medical College in Manipal between 2018 and 2021, and his DM in hepatology at Christian Medical College, Vellore between 2022 and 2025.

His two presented papers bracket that training. He took second place for platform presentation at KAPICON 2020 for research on bend apnoea as a novel marker in heart failure, work from his internal medicine years, and a poster of distinction at INASL 2025 for a comparison of conventional coagulation markers and ROTEM in alcohol related ACLF and chronic liver disease, which sits in the field he now practises in.

He is a life member of four bodies: the Indian National Association for Study of Liver Disease, the Indian Society of Gastroenterology, the Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy of India and the ISG Tamil Nadu chapter. Alongside KIMS Hospital his record lists Christian Medical College, Vellore, where his DM was taken.
