Dr. Nigel Symss is a Senior Consultant at Gleneagles HealthCity Chennai, with more than 16 years of experience. His profile records neurosurgery together with spine surgery.

A fellowship in pediatric neurosurgery and neuro endoscopy followed at the Jikei University School of Medicine in Tokyo from May to August 2007. He then took two fellowships in Adelaide at Flinders Medical Centre and the Women's and Children's Hospital: a spinal and microneurosurgery fellowship from July 2011 to July 2012, and a fellowship in functional and micro neurosurgery and spine surgery from August 2014 to March 2017.

Hydrocephalus and endoscopy run through his other appointments. He sits on the Hydrocephalus Research World Record Ranking Committee and on the continental editorial boards of the International Journal of Hydrocephalus and the Journal of Neuro Endoscopy, and was an Oi-Sami Fellowship awardee at Jikei University in 2007.

He has 24 publications in Indian and international journals, chapters in three neurosurgery textbooks, and has presented at national and international conferences. He has also worked at Fortis Malar Hospital and The Voluntary Health Services Hospital in Chennai.
