Dr. Latha Sharma — Head of Department and Senior Consultant in Hyderabad

Dr. Latha Sharma is Head of Department and Senior Consultant at KIMS Hospitals, Secunderabad, in Hyderabad, with more than 31 years of experience in pulmonology.

Her list is broad. The interventional work is bronchoscopy, endobronchial ultrasound, transbronchial needle aspiration and airway stenting. The medical work covers interstitial lung disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, severe asthma, bronchiectasis, pulmonary hypertension, complex pulmonary infection and post-tuberculosis lung disease, and the sleep work obstructive sleep apnea, polysomnography and CPAP titration.

She read MBBS at Osmania Medical College in Hyderabad between 1989 and 1994, with an internship across Osmania General Hospital, Niloufer Children's Hospital, the Government Maternity Hospital and the Government ENT Hospital, and took her MD in TB and respiratory diseases at the Government General and Chest Hospital, Osmania, between 1997 and 2000. She holds the FCCP, the FNCCP of the National College of Chest Physicians, a Diploma in Allergy and Asthma, MNAMS, and the B.N.Y.S. Her EBUS training was at KMIO in Hyderabad and her interventional pulmonology fellowship at KIMS.

Her recognition ranges wider than the clinic. She won a gold medal in the postgraduate quiz contest and a second for outstanding contribution to IAPS, received awards from the Governor of Telangana on National Pharmacy Day in 2007, and was recognised for coordinating the COVID pandemic response at KIMS Hospital.

She has published in the Indian Journal of Respiratory Care, the Indian Journal of Sleep Medicine, Lung India, the CHEST Journal and American Thoracic Society journals, and also practises at Apollo Hospitals, Jubilee Hills.
