Dr. G. R. Srinivas Rao is a Senior Consultant at Yashoda Hospitals, Secunderabad, in Hyderabad, with more than 33 years of experience in gastroenterology and hepatobiliary medicine.

His practice covers the liver, the pancreas and the gut. He performs ERCP and manages chronic liver disease, liver cirrhosis, chronic hepatitis B and C, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, chronic pancreatitis, ulcerative colitis, recurrent GI bleeding and severe gastroesophageal reflux disease.

He has also taken part in two phase III randomized multi-center multinational placebo controlled trials of 5-ASA in ulcerative colitis, one in mild to moderate disease and one in disease in remission. He is a member of the Indian Society of Gastroenterology and its AP chapter in Hyderabad, the Indian Association for Study of Liver, and the Indian Society of Enteral and Parental Nutrition.

His awards come from outside the specialty societies. He received the Vaidya Sri Award in 2005 and the Seva Ratna Award in 2011, and was given an award by the Vamsi Foundation for distinguished service at VIMS Hospital in Guntur.
