Dr. D K Bhargava — Senior Professor of Gastroenterology in Delhi NCR

Dr. D K Bhargava is Senior Professor of Gastroenterology at Indraprastha Apollo Hospital in the Delhi NCR, with more than 45 years of experience in gastroenterology and hepatobiliary medicine.

His list covers the upper gut, the bowel, the liver and the pancreas. He manages gastroesophageal reflux disease and peptic ulcer disease, Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, chronic liver disease, liver cirrhosis and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, and chronic pancreatitis, and performs advanced polypectomy.

His qualifications are drawn from Indian, Royal College and American bodies. He holds the MD and the DNB, is a Member of the National Academy of Medical Sciences, a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, a Fellow of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and a Member of the World Gastroenterology Organisation.

Two of those sit directly on the shape of his practice. Fellowship of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy corresponds to the advanced polypectomy work on his list, and membership of the World Gastroenterology Organisation places him inside the global body of the specialty rather than only its Indian one.

His two national honours were both conferred by the President of India: the Padma Shri and the Dr. B.C. Roy National Award.

He is the author of the book Mayo Liver, and his record notes numerous further contributions to the field of gastroenterology through clinical research and publications.

He practises at Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals in Sarita Vihar on the Delhi Mathura Road. A career of more than 45 years, six postgraduate qualifications and two presidential awards describe a gastroenterologist whose standing is recorded largely in honours and in teaching rank.
