Dr. Amit Langote — Senior Consultant Nephrologist in Mumbai

Dr. Amit Langote is a Senior Consultant Nephrologist, Kidney Transplant Physician and Hypertension Specialist at Apollo Hospitals, Navi Mumbai, in Mumbai, with more than 10 years of experience.

His list covers chronic kidney disease management, acute kidney injury, glomerulonephritis, nephrotic syndrome, lupus nephritis and polycystic kidney disease, haemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis, dialysis catheter placement and management, percutaneous renal biopsy, and transplant care from pre-transplant evaluation through follow-up and immunosuppression management.

He read MBBS at Government Medical College and Hospital in Miraj under Shivaji University, took the DNB in general medicine at Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital in Mumbai, and both the DNB and the DrNB in nephrology at Muljibhai Patel Urological Hospital in Nadiad.

Two further qualifications cover the dialysis side of his practice, and each is unusual. His fellowship in peritoneal dialysis was with the ISPD and APCPD, and his masters in dialysis vascular access, the EU DAVA programme, was taken at the University of Brescia. A formal master's degree in vascular access is rare on an Indian nephrologist's record, and it sits directly behind the catheter placement and management on his list.

His awards are both for presented research. He received a best scientific paper award for a poster at the annual nephrology conference of the Maharashtra chapter of the Indian Society of Nephrology in 2018, and a best paper presentation award at ISNCON 2019 for a nationwide multicentre study on ANCA-associated glomerulonephritis.

A multicentre national study is a different undertaking from a single-centre series, and glomerulonephritis remains on his own list of conditions treated.
