What is SCFE Hip Surgery (Slipped Capital Femoral Epiphysis)?
SCFE hip surgery pins or reconstructs a slipped capital femoral epiphysis so that a child's femoral head, which has slipped at the growth plate, can be stabilized and, in selected unstable slips, realigned. The surgeon places one or more screws across the physis to stop further slip. Unstable or severe slips may need a more complex realignment that belongs in a written consent, not a brochure.
