Quick Answer
RIRS (Retrograde Intrarenal Surgery) in Delhi NCR is planned against $3,000–$7,200 per operation, with 1–3 nights used only for broad trip planning. Neither is a local tariff, treatment recommendation or acceptance promise.
Confirm the named urologist, exact campus, approach, flexible ureteroscope, laser and access sheath, included imaging and pathology, catheter or stent plan and where urgent review would happen.
- India cost range
- $3,000–$7,200
- Typical starting point
- $3,000
- Typical hospital stay
- 1–3 nights
- Procedure time
- Commonly about 1–2 hours of theatre time, longer for multiple or dense stones
- Recovery
- Stent discomfort, mild burning and pink urine are common for several days.
Major cost factors: stone size and number, stone density and composition, scope type, laser platform. International patients should also budget for accommodation, airport transfers, a medical visa, medicines and follow-up.
Often quoted separately: changed operative scope; complications and re-intervention; premium devices and consumables; later treatment; travel and living.
Why request a cost through GAF rather than a hospital?
Writing to one campus gets you that campus’s package. A GAF request is reviewed against your records and returned as suitable doctor and hospital options with an indicative, itemised estimate. There is no obligation to book.
- Doctor review first. The number follows a reading of your imaging, test results and clinical records, not a brochure range.
- Hospital options. You can compare listed campuses before you travel, instead of starting over with each international desk.
- International-patient coordination. Visa letters, records routing and companion logistics sit with the same request.
RIRS (Retrograde Intrarenal Surgery) in Delhi NCR
RIRS may be considered for kidney stones commonly up to about two centimetres, lower-pole stones that ESWL is unlikely to clear, stones in patients on anticoagulants or with bleeding disorders where a percutaneous tract is risky, obese patients, and residual fragments after PCNL or ESWL. Assessment includes a non-contrast CT KUB for stone size, number, density and calyceal anatomy, kidney-function tests, urine culture with sensitivities, clotting profile where relevant, and a review of previous stent or ureteroscopy history because a tight ureter may need pre-stenting.
Delhi, Gurugram, Noida and Faridabad are separate clinical corridors with long peak-hour transfers. Confirm whether imaging, the operation, catheter or stent removal and pathology review happen on one campus before fixing accommodation. Anaesthesia, catheters and pain medicines limit independent travel early on, so arrange a companion.
Choose lift-accessible lodging within a short drive of the named urology unit, with a private bathroom, reliable drinking water for the hydration plan and a route back if bleeding, fever or urinary retention develops. Winter smog and hot pre-monsoon months both increase fluid loss and fatigue. Follow the team's fluid, activity and catheter-care instructions rather than a generic recovery calendar.
Doctor and hospital cards in Delhi NCR resolve only from exact live CMS relationships for RIRS (Retrograde Intrarenal Surgery). If that exact relationship is absent, cards must remain empty; a generic Urology, kidney or hospital label cannot verify current case acceptance. This is a catalog gap, not an availability or quality claim.
Send records before non-refundable travel. A remote opinion can change after examination, repeat imaging, urine culture and anaesthesia review in person.
What rirs (retrograde intrarenal surgery) typically costs in Delhi NCR
Total stone volume decides laser time and whether one sitting is realistic; multi-calyx disease often needs staging. Hard calcium oxalate monohydrate and cystine stones laser slowly and increase fibre and theatre time.
Ask for surgeon, campus, approach, devices, anaesthesia, theatre, ward nights, pathology, follow-up visits, exclusions and complication terms in writing.
Budget separately for travel through Indira Gandhi International Airport, nearby lodging, companion support, local transport, take-home medicines and extra nights if a catheter, stent or pathology result delays departure.

Medical travel through Delhi NCR
Send non-contrast ct kub report and images with stone size, number and density, previous ureteroscopy, stent or eswl records and any ureteric injury history and recent kidney-function and urine results before travel to Delhi NCR.
Obtain written acceptance from a named urologist and verify the exact campus, device availability, ICU backup and urgent urology contact.
Stent discomfort, mild burning and pink urine are common for several days. Flying is usually discussed once fever and bleeding have settled and a stent-removal date is fixed, often within one to two weeks of surgery. Winter smog and hot pre-monsoon months both increase fluid loss and fatigue. Follow the team's fluid, activity and catheter-care instructions rather than a generic recovery calendar. Carry the operative note, pathology and device or stent record for local follow-up.
Hospitals and units listed in Delhi NCR
Doctor and hospital cards in Delhi NCR resolve only from exact live CMS relationships for RIRS (Retrograde Intrarenal Surgery). If that exact relationship is absent, cards must remain empty; a generic Urology, kidney or hospital label cannot verify current case acceptance. This is a catalog gap, not an availability or quality claim.
General accreditation does not establish current RIRS acceptance, device stock or case-specific support. Name the campus with flexible digital ureteroscopes, a high-power holmium or thulium laser and fluoroscopy; a general cystoscopy list without a laser platform is not an RIRS service.

What Is RIRS (Retrograde Intrarenal Surgery)?
RIRS (retrograde intrarenal surgery) treats kidney stones from inside the urinary tract: a flexible ureteroscope is passed through the urethra, bladder and ureter into the kidney, and a holmium or thulium laser fragments or dusts the stone without any incision or tract through the skin.

When Might RIRS (Retrograde Intrarenal Surgery) Be Considered?
RIRS may be considered for kidney stones commonly up to about two centimetres, lower-pole stones that ESWL is unlikely to clear, stones in patients on anticoagulants or with bleeding disorders where a percutaneous tract is risky, obese patients, and residual fragments after PCNL or ESWL.

RIRS (Retrograde Intrarenal Surgery) cost in India
$3,000–$7,200 is the stored India planning range for RIRS, per operation, and $14,000–$32,000 the stored self-pay comparison. Neither is a guaranteed package; a changed approach, extra imaging, a longer stay or a second stage alters the final amount.
A usable estimate names the surgeon, campus, approach, flexible ureteroscope, laser and access sheath, anaesthesia, ward nights, pathology and follow-up, with professional, facility, device, imaging and pharmacy lines separated so two hospitals can be compared line by line.
Budget separately for flights, visa, insurance, transfers, companion, lodging, meals, extra nights and local follow-up unless expressly included.
Planning Range ≠ Final Hospital Quotation. Examination, current imaging, urine culture and anaesthesia review by a named endourologist come before candidacy, approach, risks and a final offer are meaningful.
Planning range or quotation?
The $3,000–$7,200 figure is an indicative planning range. A final hospital quotation is itemised, issued after a consultant reviews your records, and still subject to what is found clinically.

What is usually included in a RIRS (Retrograde Intrarenal Surgery) package?
No two hospitals draw the line in the same place, so read an estimate for what it excludes as carefully as for what it covers. The pattern below is what listed campuses typically bundle into a surgical estimate for this procedure. Anything not written into your estimate should be assumed to be extra until the hospital confirms otherwise.
Usually included
Usually included
Named urology consultation
Consultation with the operating urologist, records review and examination when explicitly listed.
Usually included
Pre-anaesthetic assessment
Stated blood tests, ECG, urine culture and anaesthesia review; unlisted cardiac or pulmonary work-up is extra.

Pre-stenting and staged sittings
A separate stent-placement procedure, a second RIRS for residual stone and stent removal after departure are separate unless written.
Catalog inclusions listed for this pathway: urology consultation and records review; named surgeon on camera before travel; theatre, laser or transplant stay as quoted; stent, histology, graft or device follow-up as indicated; discharge summary to your home physician.
What can increase the cost?
These are the drivers that actually move a bill for this operation, in rough order of how often they do it. Most of them are clinical decisions rather than commercial ones, which is why an honest estimate is written after a records review rather than before it.
- Stone size and number
- Total stone volume decides laser time and whether one sitting is realistic; multi-calyx disease often needs staging.
- Stone density and composition
- Hard calcium oxalate monohydrate and cystine stones laser slowly and increase fibre and theatre time.
- Scope type
- Single-use digital flexible scopes are a material consumable line compared with reusable fibre-optic instruments.
- Laser platform
- High-power holmium with pulse modulation or thulium fibre laser changes equipment charges and dusting efficiency.
- Pre-stenting and access sheath
- A separate stenting sitting, or an access sheath and stent on the day, add procedure and device lines.
- Infection and anticoagulation
- A positive culture or bridging anticoagulation adds antibiotics, delays and monitoring.
- Diagnostics before and after
- CT urography, MRI, cystoscopy, urodynamics or biopsy each add lines when not bundled.
- Anaesthesia and fitness
- Age, heart or lung disease, diabetes and anticoagulation change work-up, monitoring and ICU probability.
- Hospital category and room
- Campus tier, room class and city all shift nursing, facility and consumable pricing.
- Length of stay and recovery
- Extra nights for drainage, fever, bleeding or slow bladder recovery are billed daily unless capped.
RIRS (Retrograde Intrarenal Surgery): approaches and where they differ
The approach is selected for the examined patient, not from a quality ladder. Each option carries its own consumables, theatre time, stay and follow-up, so a quotation must name it.

| Approach | Relative complexity | GAF planning range | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dusting with high-frequency laser | Individual assessment determines suitability | No separate GAF sheetRelative complexity only | The stone is reduced to fine dust that passes spontaneously. Fewer basket passes, but small residual fragments are more common. |
| Fragmentation and basket retrieval | Individual assessment determines suitability | No separate GAF sheetRelative complexity only | Larger pieces are lasered and removed with a nitinol basket. Confirms clearance but takes more passes through the access sheath. |
| Single-use versus reusable flexible scopes | Individual assessment determines suitability | No separate GAF sheetRelative complexity only | Disposable scopes avoid reprocessing damage; reusable scopes lower per-case cost. The quotation should name which is assumed. |
| Pre-stented or staged RIRS | Individual assessment determines suitability | No separate GAF sheetRelative complexity only | A stent placed one to two weeks earlier passively dilates a tight ureter; a second sitting may be planned for large burdens. |
Planning ranges appear only where GAF Healthcare already publishes a cost sheet for that operation. Other rows describe relative clinical complexity and should not be read as prices.
Endourology and stone disease: the subspecialty behind RIRS (Retrograde Intrarenal Surgery)
Endourology is the subspecialty that treats stones and upper-tract problems through natural passages or keyhole tracts using scopes, lasers and shock waves. Stone size, density, location and infection status drive the choice between ESWL, ureteroscopy, RIRS and PCNL.
RIRS versus PCNL and ESWL: matching the tool to the stone
For stones up to about two centimetres, RIRS and ESWL are the usual contenders. ESWL is less invasive and needs no anaesthesia tract, but hard or lower-pole stones fragment poorly and may need several sessions. RIRS clears these under direct vision in one anaesthetic but involves a stent and scope-related risks. Above two centimetres, PCNL generally achieves more complete clearance per sitting, and RIRS becomes a staged or supplementary option chosen when a percutaneous tract is undesirable.
Anticoagulation, obesity, a solitary kidney, bleeding disorders and patient preference all shift the balance. A written plan should say why RIRS was chosen and what a large or unexpectedly hard stone would change.
Living with a ureteric stent after RIRS
A stent is a soft tube from kidney to bladder that keeps urine flowing while the ureter recovers. Frequency, urgency, flank ache on voiding and pink urine are expected; fever, heavy bleeding or unrelenting pain are not. Stents on an extraction string can be removed at home or in clinic without cystoscopy; others need a brief cystoscopic removal.
The stent must not be forgotten. Ask for a written removal date and who is responsible, especially if removal will happen after you return home. A stent left for months can encrust and require a more complex operation.
Risks and side effects of RIRS (Retrograde Intrarenal Surgery)
Risks include urinary infection and sepsis, bleeding, ureteric injury or perforation, ureteral access-sheath trauma, stricture later, residual fragments requiring another procedure, stent-related pain and urgency, and, rarely, failed access needing a staged procedure.
Ask before travel who pays for re-intervention, transfusion, ICU, prolonged drainage, readmission or a second stage.
RIRS (Retrograde Intrarenal Surgery) cost: India vs other medical tourism destinations
India and United States values use stored GAF planning ranges; the other countries require direct quotations. Compare the same diagnosis, approach, devices, anaesthesia, ward category, pathology and complication terms for RIRS; a lower headline with a different approach is not like-for-like.

|---|---|---|---|
| India | $3,000–$7,200 | Baseline | GAF catalog planning range. The stored figure is a national planning range for the operation, hospital stay and standard consumables as written. It does not fix the approach, device, pathology scope or a final quotation. |
| Turkey | Confirmation requiredIndicative planning estimate* | Higher than India | Quotation required. Compare surgeon, endoscopic or robotic approach, laser or implant, stent and catheter management, pathology and complication terms rather than a headline package. |
| Thailand | Confirmation requiredIndicative planning estimate* | Higher than India | Quotation required. International coordination does not establish stone-free confirmation, catheter follow-up or continuity of oncology or transplant care after return. |
| United Arab Emirates | Confirmation requiredIndicative planning estimate* | Higher than India | Quotation required. Professional, theatre, device, imaging, pharmacy and follow-up charges are often billed separately and require written confirmation. |
| Singapore | Confirmation requiredIndicative planning estimate* | Higher than India | Private self-pay varies. Request an estimate tied to the imaged anatomy, chosen approach, named device or laser and the expected number of admissions. |
| Germany | Confirmation requiredIndicative planning estimate* | Higher than India | Private billing varies. Eligibility, professional billing, implant scope and postoperative urology follow-up require direct provider confirmation. |
| United Kingdom | Confirmation requiredIndicative planning estimate* | Higher than India | Private self-pay varies. Overseas patients should verify acceptance, quotation boundaries, urgent access and handover to a local urologist before travelling. |
| United States | $14,000–$32,000 | ≈4.5× India | Stored self-pay reference. Surgeon, anaesthesia, facility, device and pathology charges may be separate; $14,000–$32,000 is a comparison range, not a bundled quotation. |
International comparisons are indicative. Currency, changed findings, a different device or approach and length of stay can change the final amount.
Why do international patients consider India for RIRS?
Some patients consider India for RIRS because named urologists, endoscopic and laser platforms, robotic systems, transplant programmes and a national self-pay range are visible in one place. Price alone is not a clinical reason to travel, and listing does not establish acceptance.
Evaluate surgeon, licensure, campus, device traceability, ICU and dialysis backup where relevant, pathology quality, urgent access and home handover. No provider is ranked and no outcome is promised; unstable disease, insufficient records or suitable local care can make travel inappropriate.

Clinical detail
How the procedure is performed
Under general or spinal anaesthesia, a rigid cystoscope places a guidewire and often a ureteral access sheath into the ureter. A flexible ureteroscope is advanced into the renal pelvis and steered into each calyx under direct vision and fluoroscopy. A thin laser fibre dusts the stone into fine particles or fragments it for basket retrieval, and the kidney is inspected for residual pieces.
A ureteric stent is commonly left for a few days to weeks to protect the ureter after the sheath; some surgeons leave a short stent on a string or none at all. Monitoring covers pain, fever, urine colour and the ability to void, since sepsis is the complication most likely to extend the stay.

Main variations
- Dusting with high-frequency laser
- The stone is reduced to fine dust that passes spontaneously.
- Fragmentation and basket retrieval
- Larger pieces are lasered and removed with a nitinol basket.
- Single-use versus reusable flexible scopes
- Disposable scopes avoid reprocessing damage; reusable scopes lower per-case cost.
- Pre-stented or staged RIRS
- A stent placed one to two weeks earlier passively dilates a tight ureter; a second sitting may be planned for large burdens.
Preparation
Assessment includes a non-contrast CT KUB for stone size, number, density and calyceal anatomy, kidney-function tests, urine culture with sensitivities, clotting profile where relevant, and a review of previous stent or ureteroscopy history because a tight ureter may need pre-stenting.
Clinicians direct anticoagulants, antiplatelets, diabetes medicines, fasting and hygiene. A positive urine culture is usually treated first and can postpone surgery.
Hospital stay and recovery
Many patients stay one to three nights; the stored 1–3 nights reflects that. Same-day discharge is possible in selected cases, and a stent, if placed, is removed one to four weeks later. Stent discomfort, mild burning and pink urine are common for several days. Flying is usually discussed once fever and bleeding have settled and a stent-removal date is fixed, often within one to two weeks of surgery.
Keep catheter, stent or wound care clean. Seek urgent urology help for fever with chills, severe flank pain not relieved by medicines, heavy bleeding or clots, or inability to pass urine.

Frequently asked questions
How much does RIRS (Retrograde Intrarenal Surgery) cost in Delhi NCR?
$3,000–$7,200 is the stored national planning range per operation. No verified Delhi NCR-only tariff is stored; request an itemized quotation from a named campus.
Which Delhi NCR clinician should assess me for RIRS?
A named endourologist should review your records and examine you. Dynamic cards require an exact CMS relationship and are not recommendations or rankings.
Where should a patient stay in Delhi NCR after RIRS?
Choose lift-accessible lodging within a short drive of the named urology unit, with a private bathroom, reliable drinking water for the hydration plan and a route back if bleeding, fever or urinary retention develops. Delhi, Gurugram, Noida and Faridabad are separate clinical corridors with long peak-hour transfers. Confirm whether imaging, the operation, catheter or stent removal and pathology review happen on one campus before fixing accommodation.
How long should I stay in Delhi NCR after RIRS?
1–3 nights is the stored hospital-stay guide. Stent discomfort, mild burning and pink urine are common for several days. Flying is usually discussed once fever and bleeding have settled and a stent-removal date is fixed, often within one to two weeks of surgery. Do not book a fixed return flight until the team documents travel fitness.
What should a Delhi NCR estimate for RIRS name?
It should name surgeon, campus, approach, flexible ureteroscope, laser and access sheath, imaging, pathology, ward nights, catheter or stent plan, follow-up, exclusions and complication terms.
How much does RIRS (Retrograde Intrarenal Surgery) cost in India?
RIRS (Retrograde Intrarenal Surgery) is typically planned at $3,000–$7,200 per operation. This stored national range is not a quotation; approach, devices, ward nights, pathology and written terms determine the final amount.
When is RIRS considered?
RIRS may be considered for kidney stones commonly up to about two centimetres, lower-pole stones that ESWL is unlikely to clear, stones in patients on anticoagulants or with bleeding disorders where a percutaneous tract is risky, obese patients, and residual fragments after PCNL or ESWL.
Is RIRS in India automatically cheaper than at home?
It may cost less than some self-pay markets, but quotations are not automatically comparable. Compare approach, surgeon, devices, ward category, pathology and complication terms; $14,000–$32,000 is the stored comparison reference.
What assessment is needed before RIRS?
Assessment includes a non-contrast CT KUB for stone size, number, density and calyceal anatomy, kidney-function tests, urine culture with sensitivities, clotting profile where relevant, and a review of previous stent or ureteroscopy history because a tight ureter may need pre-stenting.
How long is the hospital stay after RIRS?
Many patients stay one to three nights; the stored 1–3 nights reflects that. Same-day discharge is possible in selected cases, and a stent, if placed, is removed one to four weeks later. Discharge is based on clinical criteria, not a package calendar.
What are the important risks of RIRS?
Risks include urinary infection and sepsis, bleeding, ureteric injury or perforation, ureteral access-sheath trauma, stricture later, residual fragments requiring another procedure, stent-related pain and urgency, and, rarely, failed access needing a staged procedure.
When can an international patient fly home after RIRS?
There is no fixed flight day. Flying is usually discussed once fever and bleeding have settled and a stent-removal date is fixed, often within one to two weeks of surgery. The treating team must document travel fitness.
Does RIRS leave a scar?
No. RIRS is performed entirely through the natural urinary passage, so there is no skin incision. Discomfort comes from the stent and irritation of the urethra and bladder rather than from a wound.
Why might a stent be placed before the RIRS itself?
If the ureter is narrow, forcing a scope or access sheath can injure it. A stent left for one to two weeks gently dilates the ureter so the definitive RIRS is safer; this adds a separate procedure to the estimate.
