What is Intrathecal Chemotherapy?
Intrathecal chemotherapy delivers medicine into cerebrospinal fluid through a lumbar puncture or an implanted ventricular reservoir because ordinary bloodstream dosing may not reach the CNS adequately. Medicine is injected into CSF through lumbar puncture or a reservoir under sterile conditions. Dose, frequency and CSF sampling follow the disease-specific protocol.
