What is Capsule Endoscopy?
Capsule endoscopy uses a swallowable camera to photograph the small-bowel lining when bleeding or other disease is suspected after standard endoscopy has already been considered. The patient swallows the capsule after preparation as advised. Images are recorded over several hours and later read. The capsule is usually passed in stool.
